Our 2022 Feature Fellowship Winner, Timothy Ware-Hill

We’re thrilled to introduce our 2022 Feature Fellowship winner, Timothy Ware-Hill!

In his Fellowship-winning script, A TASTE OF CHOCOLATE – THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO COFFEE, after an unarmed Black man is killed by police, a poet/preacher’s kid is asked to lead a peaceful protest, but he’s afraid that if his father and community discover he’s gay, the entire movement could fall apart.

As this year’s Feature Fellowship winner, Timothy receives free tuition and housing for this year’s retreat as well as a private advisory session at the retreat with all the mentors, who including working Hollywood agents, managers, producers, development executives and other pros. In addition, Timothy receives a cash prize of $10,000 and a 12-month fellowship program with two of our mentors.

Timothy Ware-Hill is a Peabody Award Winning and NAACP Image Award Nominated filmmaker for the NETFLIX Animated Short, COPS AND ROBBERS. He’s native of Montgomery, AL, where he received a BA in Theater Arts from Alabama State University. He attended UCLA’s MFA Acting Program, then later received an MFA in Professional Screenwriting from National University. Ware-Hill continued his studies in filmmaking at The New York Film Academy in NYC. Most of his career has been as an actor in film/TV and on Broadway, where he played the role of LOLA in the Tony Award Winning Best Musical, KINKY BOOTS. He is the writer and director of an online mini- series entitled THE PRIDE PROJECT, featuring Broadway actors reciting Ware-Hill’s original poetry that focuses on the social themes of race, gender and sexuality. Ware-Hill is also credited with creating the story for an episode called “Name Tag” for the Disney Junior animated series RISE UP, SING OUT, which teaches children about anti-racism and social justice. Ware-Hill won 2nd Place in the 2020 CineStory Foundation Fellowship for his feature screenplay TYRONE AND THE LOOKING GLASS and received additional development through the 2021 Sundance Institute Screenwriter’s Intensive. He is honored to be recognized by CineStory again and is forever grateful for the support of his loving husband, Barry Ware-Hill.
