Adhish Yajnik is an Indian-American writer, visual effects supervisor, and the Technical Director of CG and Compositing at Alpha Studios, a Burbank visual effects company. His work has appeared in shows like Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, and American Born Chinese. He graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2012 and he completed the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting in 2015.
His screenplays have appeared on the Blacklist’s Realtime Top List, ranked in the top seven percent of entries in the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, and have been nominated for UCLA’s Nate Wilson Joie De Vivre Award in Screenwriting. He attended the 2015 CineStory Feature Retreat and the 2017 retreat as a semifinalist, and began volunteering for CineStory in 2021. His feature screenplay, INCONVENIENCED, was a quarterfinalist in the 2024 feature contest.
Adhish grew up in Sonoma County, California, the only child of Indian immigrants who came to the United States in the early 1990s — the land of opportunity. But thirty-odd years later, having grown up in the racial turbulence of the post-9/11 era, Adhish now writes features and limited series about the gap between the American Dream and American reality — inside and outside our borders — stories that yearn for us to live up to the promise of this beautiful experiment in self-governance.
He can usually be found frequenting LA’s best donut shops, cuddling with his tiny dog, Olive, or playing Dungeons and Dragons when his party’s schedule miraculously aligns.
