Thematic: What many top screenwriters know is the ultimate guidepost for producing their best work.
‘I spent many years searching for my themes in the world around me, waiting for some light bulb to go off – never considering that everything I needed to write was already lurking inside me. CineStory taught me to listen to myself, to look inward and identify my own themes and obsessions, which are deeply woven into our experiences, our memories, probably even our DNA! ‘Look within.’ It seems like a simple lesson, an obvious one. But simple is often hard, and it helps to have a guide when entering uncharted territory…’
– Mark Fergus (CHILDREN OF MEN, IRON MAN) on the importance of knowing your Thematic
Let industry pros including Jodie Foster’s former producer, Meg LeFauve, and the writers of CHILDREN OF MEN, IRON MAN, FIREWALL, FRACTURE and MAD MONEY guide you in discovering those core Thematic elements that will produce your best storytelling for the screen.
You may not know your Thematic yet. But once you do it will change the way you approach storytelling forever.
Finding Your Thematic will provide an in-depth examination of how a writer’s core themes can influence his or her entire body of work. This one-night, limited seating event consists of two sessions:
• An interactive demonstration of how each attending writer can explore his/her personal theme
• A panel discussion with pro screenwriters who examine how Thematic has helped direct their choices and influence their entire body of work
CineStory gratefully acknowledges the support of: The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.
